Filipe Teles

Professor Auxiliar

Coordenador

Filipe Teles is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences at the University of Aveiro, where he teaches courses in the fields of Public Policy and Political Science. Presently, he is acting as Pro-Rector for Regional Development and Urban Policies at the University of Aveiro.

He is a member of the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy (GOVCOPP), where he has developed research work on governance and local administration, territorial reform, political leadership and innovation.
Filipe Teles participates in several national and international projects and is the author and co-author of several articles in international journals of reference. He is a member of the Portuguese Association of Political Science, the Political Studies Association (UK), the International Political Science Association, and he is currently member of the Governing Board of the European Urban Research Association.

Patrícia Sílva

Patrícia Silva is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Political and Territorial Sciences of the University of Aveiro, and is a member of the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy (GOVCOPP), where she has developed research work on political parties, the politicization of recruitment of appointed elites, public administration, and local governance.

Fernando Nogueira

Fernando Nogueira has a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Aveiro, a MSc in Urban Engineering/Civil Engineering from the University of Coimbra and a degree Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Aveiro. He is an Auxiliary Professor in the University of Aveiro, at the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences. He lectures under graduated and graduated courses of Local and Regional Economics, Social and Economic Analysis, Governance and Public Policies, Planning Law and Administration, and Strategic Spatial Planning.

Presently, he is a collaborating member of the research unit on Competitiveness, Governance and Public Policy (GOVCOPP). He is also member of the coordinating team of the international project, within the ERAMUS+ Programme –“Community Participation in Planning”, in a consortium with the Ulster University and the Polytechnic University of Milan. He has been member, and sometimes coordinator, of several cooperation projects with regional and local authorities in development studies and spatial strategies.

Sara Moreno Pires

Sara Moreno Pires is a researcher at the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences and at the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (GOVCOPP) of the University of Aveiro. She is currently working at the CeNTER program: Community-led Networks for Territorial Innovation for the Centre Region of Portugal.

Sara holds a PhD in Applied Environmental Sciences (University of Aveiro, Portugal), a MSc in Development and Planning: Environment and Sustainable Development (University College London, UK) and a BSc in Economics (University of Coimbra, Portugal).

She particularly focuses her research on urban sustainability planning, sustainable development policies and monitoring in Europe and Portugal, community indicators, local governance quality, territorial innovation and smart human cities. She also teaches courses in the areas of environment and sustainable development policies.

She carried out a postdoctoral study at GOVCOPP (2016-2017) on the assessment of the quality of local governance for sustainable development in Portugal. Previously, she was Assistant Professor at Public Administration degrees of the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (2002-2016). She participates in several national and international projects and is the author and co-author of several articles in international journals.

Luís Mota

Luís F. Mota has a PhD in Public Administration (2016) from the University of Lisbon and works in the domains of Network Governance, Policy Implementation, Public Sector Reforms and Local Innovation.

He is currently Post-Doc Researcher and Assistant Professor at the University of Aveiro (UA), namely in its research unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (GOVCOPP) and Department of Social, Political and Territory Sciences (DCSPT).

Since 2008, he has been working in several national and international research projects, from which one may highlight my participation in two FP7 projects: COCOPS and YOUNEX.

Bernadete Bittencourt

Bernadete Bittencourt has a PhD in Economic and Organizational Sociology from the University of Lisbon and a degree in Administration from the Federal University of Bahia. She is postgraduated in innovation and technology diffusion by the Federal University of Bahia.

She is a research member of the Research Unit in Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policy (GOVCOPP / Univ. Aveiro), of the Research Center in Economic and Organizational Sociology (SOCIUS / ISEG-UL) and of the Researcher of the Center for Research in Social Innovation in the Public Sphere (NISP / ESAG / UDESC).

Currently, coordinates a project of international investigation –Policies of promotion and backing of social innovation: cooperative study Brasil/Portugal – involving the cooperation between NISP and GOVCOPP.

Her main research interests are focused on public administration, social innovation ecosystems, social innovation, social and solidary economy, public policy, entrepreneurship, governance, sustainable local development policy, third sector, with particular interest in territorial development policy. She has publications in books, scientific magazines and a number of presentations at conferences.

She also has expertise in consulting in the field of public administration, sustainable local development, and microentrepreneurship.

Patrícia Romeiro

Patrícia Romeiro is a researcher at the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies – University of Aveiro. She has a solid academic background in Geography, and Innovation and Development Policies, and extensive experience in the fields of action research, research and consultancy. Patrícia is particularly interested in understanding urban and regional dynamics, through the lens of collective organising capacity and public policies.

Raúl Carneiro

Raúl Carneiro is a Research Fellow at the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences of the University of Aveiro (DCSPT-UA), currently attending the Doctoral Programme in Political Science at the same institution. His main research interests are local administration, governance networks and regional development and innovation policies.

Raquel Valentim

Raquel Valentim is a Research Fellow at the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Sciences of the University of Aveiro (DCSPT-UA), where she is pursuing a master’s degree in Political Science. Her main research interests are legislative studies, intra-party politics, local governance and networks.

Teresa Ruel

Professor Auxiliar

Teresa Ruel is a Researcher at the University of Aveiro (GOVCOPP). She received a PhD in Political Science (2015) from ICS-University of Lisbon, a MA (2009) and BA (2005) degrees in Political Science from the Technical University of Lisbon (ISCSP-UTL), from which she also has an Advanced Diploma on Communication and Political Marketing (2006). Currently, she is a member of Portuguese Regional Manifesto Project – the effects of decentralization on the strategies of political parties. She counts many publications in peer review articles, books and book chapters. Her main research interests are Comparative Politics, Autonomous Regions (Portugal and Spain – Azores, Madeira and Canary Islands), Regional Elections, Territorial Politics and Comparative Research Designs.
